Bowen Therapy

What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy is a deeply relaxing soft-tissue therapy, which stimulates the body’s own healing process through gentle rolling movements precisely targeted to specific muscles, ligaments, tendons or nerves.

Bowen effectively relaxes tense muscles, breaks down restrictions in the fascia (connective tissue that surrounds and separates every structure in your body), oxygenates the tissues of the body (through improved blood flow), and stimulates immune functioning (through the lymphatic system).

Following a Bowen treatment, clients often report immediate lessening of pain, better posture and mobility, a boost in energy, and a profound sense of wellbeing.

How can Bowen Therapy help me?

Many people seek Bowen to help with pain relief from long-standing conditions or recent injuries. Conditions that often respond well include:

  • Back pain, neck pain and shoulder problems (including frozen shoulder)

  • Repetitive use problems including RSI, carpal tunnel and tennis/golfer’s elbow

  • Hip, knee, ankle and foot problems

  • Headaches (including migraines) and TMJ problems

  • Pregnancy & postnatal complaints, including breast tenderness, lower back ache, fatigue, optimal fetal positioning, and perineal discomfort following childbirth

  • Sports injuries

  • Childhood asthma, glue ear, and baby colic

Gentle and non-invasive, Bowen is safe for everyone including newborn babies, pregnant women, and the elderly.

Each session is tailored to the individual and generally lasts from 15 - 60 minutes.
